Pin bearing (PN), Pin roller bearing(PNHR)
Fixed and movable bearings based on the pin rotation principle
The pin bearing is a fixed bearing with a pin connecting the upper and lower shoes, allowing rotational tracking in the vertical direction. The hardened pin roller bearing is a movable bearing consisting of a pin bearing with several rollers to allow tracking in both horizontal and vertical directions.
Suitable for very large bridges subject to very reaction force and movements
Pin bearing are not structurally complex and provide excellent support for vertical loads. As such, they are one of the most commonly used types of fixed bearing. They are particularly effective in the foundations of arch bridges.
Hardened pin roller bearing are designed to accommodate very large reaction and movement. As such, they are generally used on larger bridges with medium to long span lengths.
